In Loving Memory of Fancy
Fancy was more than a rescue horse, she was family.
After arriving at The Healing Barn, Fancy captured the hearts of everyone she met with her gentle spirit, kind eyes, and unwavering resilience. While she was adopted in the spring of 2014, circumstances eventually brought her back home to us, where she received the care and support she needed to recover and thrive.
During her time away, a dramatic dietary change caused Fancy to develop founder (laminitis) in all four feet—a painful and potentially life-threatening condition. Through dedicated veterinary care, proper nutrition, and countless hours of love and rehabilitation, Fancy overcame tremendous challenges and continued to enjoy life at The Healing Barn for many years.
As she aged, Fancy managed arthritis and mobility challenges with grace, supported by specialized care, quality nutrition, natural herbal supplements, and the love of her caregivers. She became especially known for her close bond with Jack the donkey, faithfully watching over him and reminding us all of the power of friendship and companionship.
In February 2026, Fancy peacefully crossed the Rainbow Bridge after suffering a massive stroke. While our hearts were broken, we are grateful for the many years we were blessed to spend with her and for the joy she brought to so many lives.
Today, Fancy’s legacy lives on through the horses, donkeys, and other rescues who continue to call The Healing Barn home.
